Soccer is a universal sport that requires great physical strength, stamina, and endurance. The objective of soccer is to get the ball into the net of the opposing team, and score a goal. Now, this is a sport where players are not allowed to use there hands when moving the ball up and down the field. The playing soccer requires use of the feet, and good foot eye coordination as well as the ability to run up and down the field in an efficient manner. Around the world soccer is the most popular sport out of all sports that exist today. This includes football, tennis, basketball, baseball, golf, and the Olympics. Yes, the Olympics. In the year two thousand nine, the soccer world cup was watched by thirty three million people for a period of twenty seven days. This made soccer the most popular in the world, even over the Olympic games which are pretty popular among the entire world. Yearly, on average, eight million people follow soccer faithfully, sometimes to the point of obsession. Many countries have been known to exile and or kill soccer players that miss the winning shot or that are unable to block a goal from the opposing team.
Ironically, playing soccer has not always been a sport so popular among the world. In the past soccer used to be shunned upon among many societies. The earliest forms of soccer trace back to about three thousand years ago. During this time playing soccer was an activity that Japan and China took part in. They however used to use a leather ball that was filled with hair, however the concepts of their game was the same of modern soccer. The Romans later played this game as well and used it to unite about seventy eight men at once. Playing soccer like this was a little different than how it is played today but again, the concept is the same. In Europe, soccer was seen as a dangerous game that defied everything that GOD stood for. Many rulers including, Kind Edward, and Queen Elizabeth I were among those that banned the game. Playing soccer would get a player time and jail, and a mandatory study period of religion as well as attendance in church. For a while this was the case, however laws failed to keep people from playing the sport, and it was then allowed officially in sixteen eighty one.
Soccer has been popular sport since the eighteen hundreds when it first was played in tournament form. It became so popular that many of these tournaments grew into crazy riots throughout villages and communities. Today many of the same attributes are considered to be accompanied with soccer today. Followers of the sport are very dedicated to their teams and will riot when the teams lose and win. Many countries compete in a world cup, which is when all countries come together to compete for who is the best in the world. Playing soccer is usually done on a national level rather than state by state. For example, other sports like football, basketball, and a alike consists of teams that are specific to a particular state. Soccer is a sport that is representative of a country, which makes it more global, and hence, more popular.
